Bio:
Wade is vonstalhein72 online, a self-confessed obsessive if you’ll have me. I dabble with words, frequently feel the beat in my feet and the reels in my eyes, more often than not I escape into the cyber-paradise.
My first significant memory of gaming is exiting the tiny family home you wake up in at the beginning of Zelda: A Link To The Past into the lashing rain and being a little overwhelmed. That was definitely the moment, in hindsight, that I became a gamer.
Now I avidly consume any game that tries to do things a little differently, is especially atmospheric, or has half-decent co-op. I see a good game as a cross between a novel , a film, and the manifestation of my imagination saying ‘I wish I could actually take control of this bit…’. I’m a firm proponent of the ‘games as art’ argument (although I don’t believe it applies to all of them of course…) and I firmly believe that the best gaming experiences are all had with either a few mates in the same room, or at least a bunch of ‘em talking down a mic to you over XBLA.
I write about games (and elsewhere, music and film) because I’m passionate about them, and anyone that is passionate about something knows what it’s like to want to share your experiences with like-minded people and introduce the ignorant to the joys that await them.
Favourite Genre:
Do ‘Bioware Games’ count as a genre? No? In that case, Tower Defense, action RPG’s and anything co-op.
Gaming Style:
Talks a lot, ostensibly tactical and team-orientated, infrequently goes batshit loco bezerk.
Special Move:
The ‘lull them into a false sense of security’ by being a n00b then suddenly remember how to play and start the pwnage.
Most Common Quote:
“GET TO DA CHOPPA!”
