The release date for Konami’s highly anticipated football follow-up has finally been given.

Today, Konami have revealed that PES 2013 will launch on Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and Windows PC on September 21st 2012. That’s under three weeks away!

While FIFA is adopting quirky gimmicks left and right, PES 2013 is going back to basics and remains focused on creating the best football to pad experience on the market.

PES 2013 introduces ‘Full Control’, a new feature that allows player to have manual control over every pass and shot. The game’s AI also ensures players move and react as they actually would on the pitch.

Meanwhile, the player ID system means the world renowned players will be instantly recognisable by their look and style of play.

It’ll also be fully playable in 3D. Cor!

Konami will be offering an extremely enticing limited edition set for those pre-ordering. This is a UEFA Champions League Edition steelbook, and includes a DLC code to redeem the Historic UEFA Champions League Match Balls used in the competition and more.

Also, exclusive to the UK, a second Manchester United themed steelbook will hit store shelves. A real treat for Liverpool fans, eh?

Announcements on PSP, Playstation 2 (they’re still developing for that?!), 3DS and Wii versions are forthcoming.

No word on Vita or Wii U versions of the game.
