Remember Me/Adrift [TIMJ Database]

Set Adrift on memory's bliss...

Overview:
Neo-Paris 2084.

Augmented reality and memory manipulation have taken control of peoples' lives.

You can now digitize, buy, sell or trade your own personal memories. The last remainders of intimacy have been swept away, in what appears to be a simple extension of the development of social networks and geolocation at the beginning of the 21st century.

The "surveillance society" has been accepted by the citizens themselves, in exchange for a few technological benefits. It is a reality that no one even thinks of challenging anymore.

This memory-based economy gives an immense yet uncontrollable power to only a handful of people...

There's something so wonderfully thrilling and electrifying about dystopian cityscapes - and this concept art of a Blade-Runner-esque/cyberpunk Paris totally hits our sweet spot here at http://www.thisismyjoystick.com Not to mention, I actually really like that concept, of taking social media into an extreme dystopian scenario. I wonder how they'll make it into an actual game though?

As ever, more info as and when we get it. But for now, here's a selection of some of the game's beautiful concept art. (Nobody has any clue if the actual game will look this amazing, but hey, patience is a virtue and all that, right?)

Remember Me/Adrift [TIMJ Database]

Sounds like an interesting concept. All I'll say is next year is looking like an extremely expensive one for games and with autumn being the busiest time of year in terms of franchise releases, new ip's need to be pretty special to take the fanboys away from their favourites.

Shitting Jesus that concept art is SOOOOOO Blade Runner it's making my sci-fi glands tingle!

Obviously not enough details for me to get too wet just yet, but the concept sounds interesting. I'm just hoping it doesn't feel to Deus Ex and essentially get buried by that derivative familiarity...

Hmmmm that trailer hasn't excited me. While the world looks really cool and the thought of having an open-world type game set in it is an interesting concept, that lead character looks and sounds so boring. Ooooo it's another tech-savvy British girl who's pretty but not too pretty and has cool anime hair. She reminds me too much of whatsername from Hydrophobia, which was a pretty crap game anyway but made even worse by a lead character who was about as interesting as a Littlewoods catalogue. I can't even remember her name that's how boring she was. I hope this lead has something interesting about her or it could damage the game's future. Sleeping Dogs' story works because Wei Shen is a fresh persona; a Chinese-American undercover cop with childhood criminal experiences and a difficult moral compass who juggles merciless Triad activities and do-gooding cop responsibilities with a degree of professionalism but still retaining a natural, human difficulty. I genuinely hope Adrift (or whatever its gonna be called) doesn't rely on it's world to carry a one-dimensional lead character.

Capcom building Remember Me into 'major franchise'

Publisher says it's looking to build "long-lasting relationship" with developer Dontnod; already planning releases for next-gen consoles.

Capcom's new action game Remember Me won't ship until May 2013, but that has not kept the publisher from already stating its plans for the future of the series. Speaking to Joystiq, Capcom senior producer Mat Hart said the publisher is hoping to work with developer Dontnod Entertainment to spin the game into a series.

"We're looking to build a long-lasting relationship with Dontnod Entertainment as a developer, and build Remember Me into a major franchise," Hart said.

Hart's statement came in response to a question regarding Capcom's decision to launch the game during May 2013. He explained that it was important for Capcom to launch the game for current-generation consoles, but made it clear that future titles could see release on new systems.

"The thing is, if you leave it too late into next year, then you are starting to straddle that line where you're starting to move into the next-generation consoles," he said. "And what we wanna do is make sure we launch this on the current generation of consoles, to really sell it in, and establish it as a new IP. And then build the franchise out in line with the new consoles coming out."

Capcom announced Remember Me (formerly titled Adrift) this week during Gamescom. A third-person game due out in May 2013 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, Remember Me has players taking on the role of Nilin, an "elite memory hunter." According to Capcom, Nilin not only is a physical threat, but also boasts a special ability that allows her to break into people's minds where she can steal or change memories.

I'm still interested in this as the world looks awesome and the story appears interesting. In the video's the combat looks pretty cool too but like Trent my excitement has been down graded by the lead. She is basically Lara Croft with anime hair.
