I really can't wait to see this. I hated the Sam Raimi movies, and Toby Maguire was no Peter Parker in my eyes. Being a life-long Spidey fan, this makes me shoot white stringy stuff just thinking about it.
Watched the trailer last night. Gotta say, I am looking forward to it. Taking it back to its roots a bit is a good thing. Bringing back the intelligence and the gadgets and making Spidey how he was portrayed is a bold but brilliant move. I liked the Raimi portrayal, but it was missing something. I think this could be a definitive leap for comic to screen adaptations. Dont get me wrong, there have been some good examples. Watchman, Kick Ass and Scott Pilgrim to say the least, but I think the new Spidey is probably gonna trump all of them. The more I see, the more I like the look of it.
I thought the first Raimi film was decent, if a little too glossy. Then the quality declined and the third one was just ridiculous, with emo-Spidey lol. This one looks cool though, a bit more grounded and heavy. While I don't think it looks like it's gonna beat Scott Pilgrim (but maybe Kick Ass and Watchmen) and almost certainly won't surpass the mass critical and commercial popularity of Nolan's Batman trilogy, I'll probably go see this at the cinema.
Those guys know shit all about spidey, and clearly didn't watch the teaser. 'maybe he was experimented on as a kid, or gotten bitten when he was younger'.
IGN very often know fuck all about anything. Especially in their video content; it all seems to be made by a bunch of uncultured, spoilt American arseholes with nothing better to do but sit on their thrones and look down on everything. But then I suppose when you're company is owned by Rupert Murdoch that's the only role model you're gonna get...
I saw an 8 minute preview of this today, and I have to say - it looks absolutely...well, amazing! The cast are perfect choices for their respective roles, the suit looks absolutely incredible in action, the audio production is punchy as fuck, and the 3D complemented the amazing photography that makes the city sparkle, perfectly.
I seriously can not wait to see this movie, I am feeling very confident that this will finally erase the horrors that Sam Raimi's train wreck of a franchise inflicted upon my psyche.
This is MY Spider-Man. The Spider-Man I crafted in my mind growing up.
