Podcast: Pre-Launch Special
Well guys, it’s time to announce our plans in regards to podcasting. Yup, we’re hopefully going to be joining the ranks of some quality gaming podcasts already available on the web, while offering our own unique views on things. This pre-launch episode is a bit of an equipment and format test which gave us some recording issues; we learnt a lot putting it together and will be striving to improve it a whole lot more in upcoming episodes (starting with a change of host!). You can either stream the podcast right from our site, or subscribe to it on iTunes (should be appearing very shortly on there). Enjoy the ‘car crash’ of a first episode! Read on to find out what we covered and to use the sites audio player, and if you have any topics you’d like us to discuss or questions you’d like us to answer on future episodes, please feel free to email us.
We covered:
- The site and what we’re about.
- What we are playing: Star Ocean, Riddick and Resident Evil.
- E3: What impressed us the most, the motion war.
- Wrap up.

Good start for a podcast, a little ‘fanboy’ for me with the Sony stuff, etc and a few facts a little incorrect, but a good start. Sony didn’t ‘rush’ the motion sensor out (yes, the presentation was though) and Project Natal is 3 year old tech, was at E3 several years ago. The presentation of Natal was WAY ahead of the Sony presentation, be it very ‘scripted’ and the Milo/Lionhead tech demo was pre-scripted. Verbs ‘ill prepared’ statement was on the ball. Got to be careful not to come across too Xbox 360 led & Kirsty has a good voice, use her more, she could lead it and then you don’t need that American voiceover.
I don’t think they should have to restrain their opinions just because it comes off as fanboyish. Maybe Andy’s a no-good Sony fanboy! So what? It’s an opinion, it’s valid, and I think it’s ok.
We’ve already pinpointed Kirsty as the main host from now. I’m adequate if needed, but Kirst is defo gonna be used a lot more. It’s something she’s very excited about doing too.
As for the fanboy stuff, we were just saying what we saw. It’s nothing we haven’t seen on PS3 sites either.
The motion control for Sony was poorly demonstrated, and the lack of a price drop was a major surprise for many in the industry and would have the difference between a good press conference and a poor one. The PSP Go was just another pointless redesign.
People were expecting more. But they did have some good games on show, can’t deny that, but MS pulled off one of the best E3 press conferences ever, and when you are comparing on what was on show it’s natural anyone would be far more excited about what MS showed.
Aside from that tt’s all opinion, and exactly what we’re about. We’re not gonna say something was good when we don’t think it was simply to appease the Sony fanboys.
Also Brian’s voice work if anything is gonna get more use as we work our a better structure in the coming episodes, but it’s going to be ‘evolution, not revolution’, for us Partridge fans.
The Podcast sounds good for a first episode, I listen to them a lot so there’s going to have to be a fair bit of variety to keep me interested.
Sounds good so far though, would be good if you get guests on every now and then as well.
But awesome first attempt
I thought you’d already have thought of everything lol
And I’m not against you on the E3 conferences, the Project Natal part was the ‘killer app’ so to speak for Microsoft.
Still, some of the Nintendo stuff was superb as well, although very predictable.
Pretty good 1st podcast.
The funky background musik is a winner.
