MCM Comic Con Arrives at NEC, Birmingham

This Is My Joystick were at Comic Con – see what Smiley Dave had to say about it.

Towards the end of November, the Bullring in Birmingham was full of Christmas shoppers who could be confused for zombies from one of George Romero’s satirical films about consumerism. For one weekend at least, the people of the West Midlands had a welcome antidote for such activities as Comic Con visited town.

Visitors were able to enjoy two great shows for the price of one, with Birmingham Comic Con ticket holders also gaining entrance to Memorabilia, Britain’s biggest collectors’ event.

Any show that features video-games, cosplay, comics, anime and collectables sounds like a perfect way to spend a Saturday to us here at This Is My Joystick, so we sent our very own Smiley Dave to check out what the show(s) had to offer.

His brief was simple: “Get your game on in the retro gaming zone, cheer on the battling ‘bots of Robots Live and check out the Cosplay Masquerade.”

How did he get on? Luckily Smiley Dave returned with a video report which can be found below.

Did you attend this year’s Comic Con at the NEC? Did you return with any stories or did you express adoration for a character via the medium of cosplay? We would love to hear about your day in the comments section.
