Xbox Live will feature on Windows 8

August 31, 2012, Author: Ray Willmott

Starting October 26th, Xbox Live games will find their way onto Windows 8 thanks to a collaboration with some of gaming’s leading developers and publishers.

There will be 29 Xbox Live titles coming on October 26th, some of which will be Windows 8 exclusives. Windows 8 will also see ongoing new releases through the Christmas period and well into the future.

These games will be playable on all compatible Windows 8 devices including Windows 8 PCs, laptops and even tablets.

There will be a pre-installed Xbox Games app in Windows 8 making it easy to find the games all in one place. What’s more, all Xbox Live on Windows 8 games will feature Xbox Achievements, and will take advantage of other Xbox Live features including leaderboards, multiplayer modes and chatting with friends.

Some games, such as World of Keflings, Dragon’s Lair, Fruit Ninja and iloMilo are already available on Xbox Live and will be coming to the service at launch.

Equally, beloved titles yet to appear on the service such as Jetpack Joyride, Angry Birds Space and Cut the Rope will appear and brand new titles like Zombies!!! and Wordament, created from the ground-up, can be downloaded.

This is all part of an exciting Xbox Live future which allows cross-platform play on many landmark titles via SmartGlass and Microsoft Operating Systems, and already seems to be doing a better job than Games for Windows Live before it.

Exciting times!

More as we get it.
