The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Trailer and Spring Release Revealed

January 25, 2014, Author: Neil Hughes

The more cynical amongst us – and Spider-Man fans – could be forgiven for having reservations about The Amazing Spider-Man 2 arriving this spring on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii U, Nintendo 3DS & Windows PC.

Every gamer across the world dreads to read the words “movie license”, especially when Activision are mention in the same breath, as this usually involves a small budget and rushed production in a transparent effort to make quick money from a popular franchise. This can be traced back to when ET was released on the Atari 2600 in 1982 and more recently Walking Dead: Survival Instinct.

You could argue with the fantastic Lego games that are going from strength to strength at the moment show that this particular gaming cliché is outdated, so let’s take a look at the new The Amazing Spider-Man 2 trailer.

“This in-game footage gives centre stage to the story with a revealing look into the world of this super hero sequel, as well as an ominous introduction to one of its central characters: Kraven the Hunter (aka Sergei Kravinoff). Marvel’s infamous Russian strongman – equal parts charismatic and dangerous – will play a critical role throughout the game’s narrative, challenging Spider-Man’s code of justice as he traverses the criminal underworld. It also highlights the man beneath the mask, Peter Parker who will play an important part of his own in the journey to come.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2, players once again assume the role of the iconic Super Hero in a unique side-story inspired by the feature film but set in its own continuity. Throughout his journey, Spider-Man will encounter a number of new foes as well as some old friends, as he confronts a new threat to his beloved city. The narrative will give Peter Parker, Spider-Man’s nerdy photojournalist persona, a greater role in the spotlight, as he investigates the complicated motivations and unique personalities behind the menagerie of Marvel menaces threatening Manhattan.”

Die hard Spidey fans will be watching very closely and probably getting quite excited after watching this trailer, whereas neutrals will have not so fond memories of previous games, pointlessly web-slinging your way around the city picking up endless collectables, but on this first showing, I definitely want to see more.
